HIGHLIGHTS Daemen opened the scoring with a goal by Miranto in the 19th minute, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) made crucial saves at the 15th and 30th minutes, denying the Dragons. Schultz came up with another big save in the 42nd minute to maintain the lead. Macayla Hansen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) got an early look, firing a shot wide in the seventh minute. Miranto had a shot attempt saved in the 11th minute. Kaitlin Mettler (Royalton, N.Y.) had a chance to add to the lead in the 31st minute when she ripped a shot that hit the woodwork. Chloé Cardone (Hilton, N.Y.) recorded two shots in the first half, one getting saved and the other landing off target. The Dragons came out firing at the start of the second, recording three shots in the first seven minutes, all saved by Schultz, including a pivotal stop at 46:12 on a shot by Tia Nagle. Taylor Fiegel (Lockport, N.Y.) attempted to shift momentum with shots in the 58th and 67th minutes, although neither found the target. Daemen gained two corner kicks in quick succession at 68:20 and 69:02 but couldn't capitalize on the opportunities. The Dragons' Mauriana Dorsch and Autumn Schweitzer continued to pressure late with shots, but both were denied by Schultz. GAME NOTES Schultz made 11 saves in the match, earning her second shutout of the season. The senior recorded double-digit saves for the fifth time this season. With her goal, Miranto passed Daemen Hall of Famer Sam Engel for third all-time in program history for career goals (43). Cardone finished with three shots in the game, while Mettler fired two. The win was Daemen's seventh straight victory. UP NEXT The Wildcats are back in action Saturday, heading to No. 13 nationally-ranked Mercy for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
