Women's Tennis Stumped by Edinboro

Box Score WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's tennis team fell to Edinboro, 5-2, in intercollegiate women's tennis action Saturday night at Miller Tennis Center. 

With the win, Edinboro improved to 1-4 overall this year while Daemen dropped to 10-7 this season. 

Looking at doubles at No. 2, the combo of freshman Stephanie Baier (Boise, Idaho) and Carly Armitage (Rochester, N.Y.) earned the team leading eighth doubles win of the year with a 6-0 decision over Rafaella de Almeida and Maria Clara Salomao, 6-0. However, the Fighting Scots won on No. 1 and 3 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead. 

Moving to singles, graduate student Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) collected her first win of the spring with a 6-2, 6-4, victory over de Almeida at No. 5 singles. At No. 6 singles, senior Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) took down Salomao, 6-1, 6-0, for her 48th career singles win. Edinboro swept the remaining matches on singles courts No. 1-4 to secure the 5-2 win.
