Men's Tennis Drops Final Match Of The Season At Queens

Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The Daemen University men's tennis team dropped their final match of the 2024-2025 season at Queens College on Friday morning, falling 0-7 to the 2025 East Coast Conference regular season champions. With the loss, the season ends for the Wildcats, who finish the season with a 4-16 overall record and 0-6 record in ECC play, while Queens improves to 15-4 on the year and 5-1 in ECC matches. The Wildcats went 2-11 in the spring championship season and closed the year out ranked fourth in the conference for the fourth consecutive season. 

The Knights won all matches on the day, first taking the doubles point after winning No. 1 and No. 2 doubles play and earning the win by default as Daemen did not field a team at No. 3 doubles. Playing their final match of their collegiate career, the Daemen senior duo of Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) and Jayven Williamson (Minneapolis, Minn.) fell to the Queens pair of Loup Alleno and Adam Laur, 6-1 at top doubles. Junior Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Netherlands) and sophomore Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) dropped No. 2 doubles to QC's Tim Andersson and David Cerne, 6-2. 

Daemen dropped the five singles pairings that they played in today. Playing at No. 1 singles for the last time as a Wildcat, Alvarez lost to Alleno (6-0, 6-4). The senior finished the year with a 10-9 record in singles play, and was the only Daemen player to record double-digit singles wins this season. He totaled 16 singles wins at Daemen over his two year career. Williamson fell in his final singles match of his four-year Daemen career to Cerne (6-2, 6-0). The senior compiled a 4-13 record in singles and a  5-13 doubles record in his final season as a Wildcat.
