The Wildcats swept doubles and won four of the six singles matches to secure their first victory of the year. Two freshman Wildcats earned their first career singles victories, including Marley Conover (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Nadja Emmendorfer (Clarence, N.Y.). Ashley Bonilla (Flushing, N.Y.), Bayisenge Marie-Claire (Syracuse, N.Y.), and Conover also picked up their first career doubles wins. DOUBLES The Wildcats won all three doubles matches, beginning with Conover and Stephanie Baier (Boise, Idaho) taking a 6-1 win at the No. 1 slot over McKenna Ellis and Catherine Zak. The No. 2 pair of Bella Bjerkan (Elmhurst, Ill.) and Bonilla earned a 6-4 win against Anna Spencer and Victoria Cioni. Finally, the team of Carly Armitage (Rochester, N.Y.) and Marie-Claire defeated Isabella Iannitti and Paige Masrouri, 6-4. SINGLES Daemen sealed the deal, taking four of the singles points. Conover earned a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Zak at the No. 1 slot, and Baier followed by downing Ellis 6-1, 6-3. Bjerkan won 7-6, 6-0 at No. 3 singles over Spencer. Lily Goodemote (Sauquoit, N.Y) fell 6-1, 6-2 to Cioni at the No. 4 slot. The No. 5 court saw Dania Mehani (Amherst, N.Y.) drop a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Masrouri. Emmendorfer rounded it up with a 6-0, 7-5 win at the No. 6 spot. UP NEXT The Wildcats return to action next Friday for their first ECC match.
