Although the two teams are ECC rivals, the game was a non-conference tilt. HIGHLIGHTS Macayla Hansen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) converted a penalty kick in the 13th minute for the Wildcats, giving Daemen a 1-0 advantage. Daemen broke through again in the 73rd minute with a goal by Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.), making it 2-0. Hansen tapped a pass to Victoria DiCarlo (North Tonawanda, N.Y.), who lofted a ball into the box that Miranto sent home. Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) was tested early, making three stops in the opening 10 minutes. Kaitlyn Wright (Geneva, N.Y.) had a chance in the 2nd minute, firing a shot wide. She also had an opportunity in the 27th minute, getting loose in the box and firing a shot that was saved on a diving stop. Schultz continued her strong performance, making additional saves on shots by Samantha Catlin and Elizabeth Miller to maintain the Wildcats' lead. Daemen's offense tested the Redhawks early in the second half, with Lily Macfarlane (Murcott, England) and Kaitlin Mettler (Royalton, N.Y.) both having shots saved by Mia Tyndell by the 53rd minute. The Redhawks forced Schultz into crucial saves at 57:11 and 59:28, respectively. Wright had an opportunity to add to the Wildcats' lead in the 84th minute, but her attempt was saved. Despite continued pressure, Schultz made more big stops to help Daemen maintain its advantage and secure the 2-0 win. GAME NOTES Hansen led the Wildcats with three points (1G, 1A), recording the first three-point performance of her career. She also netted the first game-winning goal of her career. Schultz made 13 saves, tying her season-high for the third time. She recorded her second straight shutout and the 15th of her career. Miranto scored her team-leading 7th goal of the season. Hansen and Miranto both found the back of the net for the second straight game. DiCarlo recorded a helper for the second time in three games. Wright maintained offensive pressure with four shots, two of which were on goal.
