ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Running in their second race of the season, the Daemen University men's cross country team placed ninth of 17 teams at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan University.

The Wildcats posted a team score of 251 in the race. SUNY Geneseo placed four of their top five runners in the top-10, including the first and second place runners, to win the meet with a team score of 28. Findlay (44 points) and host RIT (104) finished second and third in the meet.
Daemen junior
CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) paced the Wildcats for the second consecutive race, placing 12th out of 249 with an 8K PR time of 25:21.1, shaving over 20 seconds off his previous best time (25:42.6) set at the 2023 Highlander Invitational. Johnson's time ranks second all-time in the Daemen 8K record books and is just five seconds shy of
Jon Moote's 8K program record time (25:16.0) set at the 2023 Highlander Invitational.
Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) finished second for the Wildcats on the day, placing 31st overall with a PR time of 25:57.6. The junior shaved 25 seconds off his previous 8K PR (26:22.5) set at the 2024 Harry F. Anderson Invitational. Senior
Josh Trometer (Lancaster, N.Y.) placed 111th on the day and third on the team with a time of 28:00.6, followed by freshman
Ibrahim Hakizimana (Rochester, N.Y.) who placed fourth on the team and 127th overall with an 8K PR of 28:27.3 in his first collegiate 8K race. Graduate student
Laertes Cushing (Alfred, N.Y.) rounded out the Daemen scorers to finish 162nd with a PR time of 29:28.8, over 30 seconds faster than his previous best (30:03.2) set at the 2022 Highlander Invitational.
Junior
Brad Tobin (Hamburg, N.Y.) placed 172nd with a time of 29:52.5.
The Wildcats are off for two weeks and resume action at the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 11 in Houghton, N.Y.
