NORTH CANTON, OH -- The Daemen University men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback in the program's 2026 season opener on Friday night, falling to Walsh University of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference at the North Canton Racquet Club

Walsh won the first point of the match by sweeping all three doubles contests. Daemen's No. 1 duo of Alex Lumanog (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Lasse Mergens (Bochum, Germany) fell by a 6-2 score, while the No. 2 tandem of Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Netherlands) and Pablo Viera (Naples, Fla.) took a 6-3 loss.

In singles play, the Cavaliers won all six matchups, including five in straight sets. The No. 3 singles tilt between Chitanand and Walsh senior Lukas Kohler went the distance before Kohler emerged victorious by a 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 score.
