Box Score AMHERST, N.Y. — The Daemen women's tennis team fell 7-0 to St. Lawrence Saturday afternoon inside Miller Tennis Center.
In doubles, the Wildcats picked up a win at the No. 1 slot, with the team of
Marley Conover (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and
Bella Bjerkan (Elmhurst, Ill.) earning a 6-4 win over Ellie McDermed and Yvett Karera.
The Saints took the doubles point after winning the other two matches. Daemen's No. 2 pair,
Carly Armitage (Rochester, N.Y.) and
Ashley Bonilla (Flushing, N.Y.), fell 7-5 to Abigail Sicuranza and Ellie Fritz. At No. 3 doubles, the Wildcats' duo of
Lily Goodemote (Sauquoit, N.Y.) and
Dania Mehani (Amherst, N.Y.), dropped a 6-0 decision to Kate Butler and Sarah Oldland.
SLU won all six singles contests to secure the match. At No. 1 singles, Conover fell to Ari Karera, 6-2, 6-3. Armitage came up short in a battle at No. 2, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4), against McDermed. Bjerkan also lost a tight battle at No. 3, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0, to Fritz. Bonilla dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Maya Stepic at the No. 4 slot, and Daemen's No. 5 player, Goodemote, fell 6-0, 6-0 to Oldland. Finally, Mehani lost at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2 to Alexandra Fuller.
