Daemen Links: Roster | Schedule | Stats STAC Links: Roster | Schedule ON THE ROAD FOR ECC ACTION The Daemen women's tennis team hits the road for its first ECC matches of the spring, taking on Queens on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Wildcats will be back in action after a 19-day break and currently hold a 3-10 record, including a 0-4 ECC mark. LAST TIME OUT Daemen fell 7-0 on the road to Saint Michael's in their last match on Feb. 28. The Purple Knights won all three doubles matches to take the point. The Wildcats' No. 1 team of Marley Conover (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Bella Bjerkan (Elmhurst, Ill.) fell 6-1, while the No. 2 pair of Carly Armitage (Rochester, N.Y.) and Ashley Bonilla (Flushing, N.Y.) fell 6-3. At No. 3 doubles, Lily Goodemote (Sauquoit, N.Y.) and Dania Mehani (Amherst, N.Y.) dropped a 6-2 decision. SMC also took all six singles contests to secure the match. At No. 1 singles, Conover fell 6-2, 6-2, while Armitage lost at the No. 2 slot by a 6-1, 6-0 score. Bjerkan also lost a battle at No. 3, dropping a 6-2, 6-2 decision. Bonilla fell 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 slot, and Daemen's No. 5 player, Goodemote, dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision. Nadja Emmendorfer (Clarence, N.Y.) lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6. STARTING THE SPRING STRONG Conover is 2-0 in doubles matches this spring. She won 6-4 at the No. 1 with her partner Bjerkan this past Saturday. The freshman also earned a 6-0 win with Armitage (Rochester, N.Y.) at No. 1 doubles against West Liberty on Feb. 14. FALL RECAP The Wildcats went 3-7 during the fall campaign, including a 0-4 mark in East Coast Conference matches. Daemen earned wins over Nazareth (5-2), Fredonia (7-0), and Oswego State (7-0). Bjerkan and Conover both posted 4-7 singles records during the fall. The doubles team of Conover and Stephanie Baier (Boise, Idaho) led the way with a 4-7 mark. GETTING ON THE BOARD During the fall, several Wildcats earned their first wins of the season against Fredonia on Oct. 5. Goodemote Armitage, Bonilla, and Mehani all picked up their first singles wins of the season. Emmendorfer improved to 2-1 in singles, while Baier and Bjerkan also earned wins. Goodemote and Mehani notched their first doubles victory of the year. SCOUTING QUEENS (7-2, 4-0 ECC) The Knights hold a 7-2 record after defeating Adelphi in a non-conference match on March 12. Queens lost to Findlay 5-2 and Division I Hofstra, 4-3, earlier this spring. SERIES HISTORY The Knights lead the all-time series 14-0. Queens earned a 7-0 victory when the teams met in Amherst during the fall. The Knights also took a 4-0 win in last season's ECC Semifinal SCOUTING ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (4-6, 1-3 ECC) The Spartans are 4-6 after falling to St. Thomas (FL) on March 134, snapping STAC's three-game win streak that saw victories over East Stroudsburg, Minn. St. Moorehead, and California (Pa.) SERIES HISTORY The squads met this past fall, with the Spartans earning a 5-2 win at Royal Park. STAC leads the all-time series 15-0.
