INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- UMES opened the first set with a 7-1 run, taking advantage of six straight Wildcat errors. Daemen would put together a 9-3 run off kills from Wieberg (2), Mullen (2), and Leicht (1) to bring the game within one, 11-12, but the Wildcats would have to wait until 22-21 to take their first lead of the game after hanging with the Hawks and going on consecutive two-point runs. A pair of back-to-back blocks from O'Neill and Leicht locked up the first set for the Cats, 27-25.
- The Wildcats dominated the second set from start to finish, jumping out to a 9-2 advantage early and held onto a sizeable lead throughout the rest of the set. In the middle of the set, Daemen scored 10 points off seven UMES mistakes to take a 22-10 lead and finished off the set with a kill from Giraud to take the second, 25-15.
- The third set started much closer, with the Wildcats taking a 10-6 lead off three Wildcat kills and a host of Hawk errors. Daemen remained with a multi-point lead through the middle of the set, up 17-12, until UMES rattled off four of the next five points to make it a two-point game, 18-16. The Wildcats got to match point at 24-21 but the Hawks stayed in it with a Daemen service error and a kill to make it 24-23. Wieberg sealed the deal with a huge kill to the back of the court to take the third 25-23 and win the match 3-0.
