AMHERST, N.Y. --
Darek Przybyl has stepped down as the head coach of the Daemen University men's volleyball team after two seasons, citing personal reasons, Vice President of Athletics Traci Murphy announced on Friday morning.
After being the program's top assistant coach from its inception in 2019, Przybyl took the head coaching reins in August 2024 following the departure of Daemen's first head coach, Don Gleason. Over the past two seasons, Przybyl led the Wildcats to a 28-26 overall record and a 10-10 record in Northeast Conference play. As the third seed in the 2025 NEC Tournament, Daemen cruised to the program's second consecutive NEC Championship and earned the conference's first-ever automatic bid to the National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship Tournament. The Wildcats hosted their first-ever postseason game and fell to #20 Penn State in front of a sold-out Lumsden Gymnasium crowd.
Over the past two seasons, Przybyl has coached 10 all-conference players, with four Wildcats earning Second Team All-NEC accolades this season, including
Patrick Mullen (Farmingdale, N.J.),
Maverick O'Neill (East Amherst, N.Y.),
Billy Wieberg (Grand Island, N.Y.) and
Kyle Zelasko (West Seneca, N.Y.). O'Neill, Wieberg and Zelasko are three of Daemen's six graduating seniors this year.
The search for the third head coach in Daemen men's volleyball history will begin immediately.
