Despite a strong defensive showing with eight saves, the Wildcats were unable to capitalize on their seven shots, two of which were on goal. HIGHLIGHTS Malone broke through with a goal by Alyssa Schofield in the 18th minute, assisted by Eliza Wills, giving Malone a 1-0 lead. The Pioneers extended their lead in the 66th minute when Claire Charnock found the back of the net, assisted by Morgan Kandel. In the first, Daemen established its defensive presence early. Rylee Kumer (Ambridge, Pa.) made multiple key saves, denying Malone's attempts in the opening minutes. The Wildcats responded with an offensive push, generating a corner kick and a shot from Mia Dickens (Boise, Idaho), which was saved. The half closed with the Wildcats trailing 1-0, but maintaining pressure with another corner kick opportunity. The Wildcats had more attempts by Lily Macfarlane (Murcott, England) and Macayla Hansen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), but they could not capitalize. Mia Wright (Liverpool, N.Y.) had the last chance when she fired a shot on target in the 88th minute that was saved. GAME NOTES Kumer made an impact in goal in her first start as a Wildcat, making eight saves across 90 minutes. Hansen contributed offensively with two shots, while Wright recorded two shots, including one on goal. Dickens recorded two shots, putting one on goal. The Wildcats finished with five corners.
