Kumer Makes Career-High 12 Saves Against Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Daemen fell 2-0 to Saint Anselm on the road on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats' offense struggled to create chances, but Rylee Kumer (Ambridge, Pa.) had a career-high performance in goal, making 12 saves. 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Hawks broke open the scoring in the 49th minute.
  • Two minutes later, Saint A's scored again to make it 2-0. 
  • Kumer stopped seven shots in the first half, with her first coming in the eighth minute.
  • In the 39th minute, Kumer made back-to-back stops to deny the Hawks. 
  • The Wildcats had two corners in the first half, but they could not convert. 
  • Zainab Khalid (Penfield, N.Y.) had a chance for Daemen in the 56th minute when she fired a shot that missed wide right. 
  • Kumer continued to stand tall in the second half. She stopped a shot in the 60th minute, then made another two minutes later. 
  • She also made saves in the 69th and 82nd minutes. 
  • Kaitlin Mettler (Royalton, N.Y.) took a shot in the 89th minute that got blocked but led to a Daemen corner kick. However, the Wildcats could not capitalize. 
GAME NOTES
  • Kumer's 12 saves marked a career high. The junior's previous best was 11 while playing for Mercyhurst. 
  • Daemen logged three corner kicks.
  • This is the last regular-season meeting between the programs as Division II members, as Saint Anselm will transition to Division III starting in 2027.
