Wildcats Tie Salem, 1-1

AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen (0-4-2) tied Salem (2-2-1) 1-1 on Saturday at Royal Park. Karim Salome (Logan, Utah) scored in the first half for the Wildcats, but the Tigers evened it up in the second.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Salome put Daemen ahead 1-0 in the 24th minute.  A clear attempt by a Salem defender deflected off Salome's back and went into the goal.
  • Salem tied the game at 1-1 in the 53rd minute. 
  • The Wildcats had two chances early on, with Stefan Jankovic (Reykjavík Iceland) and Sincere Noble (Baltimore, Md.) both having shots saved in the fourth minute.
  • Noble had another chance in the 11th minute, but his attempt was stopped again.
  • In the 26th minute, Yves Sisse (Phoenix, Ariz.) fired a shot that was saved. Four minutes later, Afonso Abreu (Leiria, Portugal) ripped one that was also saved.
  • Noble continued to create chances in the second half, putting shots wide in the 49th and 55th.
  • Selim Ozleplebici (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) also put a shot wide in the 59th minute.
  • Cristopher Vasquez (Sunnyside, N.Y.) made a big save in the 76th minute, keeping the score even.
  • The Wildcats added two more shots late in the second half, with Fabrizzio Jaramillo (Lynwood, Calif.) and Afonso Lino (Lisbon, Portugal) firing shots that were saved in the final 12 minutes.
GAME NOTES
  • The Wildcats finished with a 15-12 edge in shots and put eight attempts on goal.
  • Salome scored his first career goal and finished with two shots.
  • Noble finished with a team-leading four shots and two on goal.
  • Vasquez played the full 90 minutes in goal with three saves.
  • Daemen had two corners in the game.

The Wildcats remain home on Wednesday, hosting Slippery Rock for a non-conference tilt at 6 p.m.
