Box Score

AMHERST, N.Y.- The Daemen College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Dimp Wagner Stadium to East Coast Conference opponent Dowling College this afternoon.  Daemen falls to 4-10-0 (0-6-0 ECC) on the season while Dowling improves their record at 8-3-1 (4-2-1 ECC).

The Golden Lions, who are on a five-game win streak, broke through Daemen defenders with a goal by Chris Posillico in the 39th minute.  Posillico headed the ball in just under the cross bar off a long throw-in pass from teammate Raffaele Sorbara.

Jose Herrera made it 2-0 in favor of Dowling when he hit a low shot through traffic from the center of the box.  Sorbara's long throw-in again found Posillico in front of the net and he headed the ball on to the awaiting foot of Herrera who beat Daemen goalkeeper Matt Daddario (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home HS) in the 56th minute.

Josh Radecki (South Wales, N.Y. / Holland Central) returned to action since the team's season opener after missing twelve games this season due to an injury. But Radecki's return was met with another loss as Daemen's leading point-producer, Kyle Clifford (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Francis), went off in the first half with an injury and did not return to the game. His status moving forward is uncertain at this point.

Dowling launched 19 total shots placing seven of them on frame and racked up 10 corner kick opportunities.

Daddario made 4 saves to keep it close for Daemen.  His counterpart, Chris Friedl made two saves to take home the shutout for the Golden lions.

Daemen returns to action when they host the University of Bridgeport - a member of the East Coast Conference - this Sunday, Oct. 20 for a 1:30 p.m. match. Sunday's game vs. Bridgeport will be part of the ECC "Pink Week" festivities that will be hosted by each men's and women's soccer team in the conference.
