AMHERST, N.Y. — Two Wildcat men's soccer players garnered Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.

Joshua Choi (Upland, Calif.) and Niko Elie (Auckland, New Zealand) were recognized for their achievements on the field and in the classroom. Both players are earning the honor for the first time in their careers.

To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 90% of their team's games or started 66% of them. They also must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility with at least one full calendar year completed at their current institution. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

Choi,  a psychology major, has maintained a 3.75 GPA. The senior served as a captain for the Wildcats this past season, starting all 12 games he played after missing some time due to injury. He logged 851 minutes, playing the full 90 in three contests. Choi helped Daemen surrender just one goal in a 3-1 win over Malone, playing 74 minutes in the contest. The midfielder also recorded a shot in contests against Walsh, Lock Haven, and Mercy.

Elie, a marketing major, has held a 3.68 GPA. He started all 14 games he played for the Wildcats after missing some action due to injury, logging 1,002 minutes, the fourth most among field players on the team. He played the full 90 minutes in six contests. The defender/midfielder helped anchor Daemen's backline, including allowing just one goal in a 3-1 win over Malone. The sophomore also fired a shot in the game at Mercy.
