AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's soccer team played tough against East Coast Conference opponent Queens College before falling by a 5-2 margin at Dimp Wagner Stadium today.  The Knights improved to 3-1-1 (1-0-0 ECC) on the season, but it wasn't without hard work as the Wildcats (2-4-0, 0-1-0 ECC) put in a strong effort. The first half went scoreless as both teams struggled to make a mark on the board after having multiple offensive chances.

Queens College launched 21 total shots in the game putting 11 of them on goal while Daemen had six of their eight shots on frame.

The Knights got on the board quickly in the second half as Pol Narbona headed the ball in off a corner kick from Glen Reid in the 48th minute. The Wildcats answered back when freshman Alex Reid (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) settled the ball in the center of the field and blasted a line drive shot from about twenty yards out which tied the score 1-1 in the 66th minute.

Queens then generated two quick goals both coming off corner kicks from Glen Reid.  In the 73rd minute, Peter Touros headed the ball in goal and Jorge Artavia shot one on frame a minute later to put the Knights up by two.

Kyle Clifford (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Francis) then responded in the 83rd minute with a shot to the right corner off a feed from senior Jared Contreras (Arcadia, Calif./Arcadia) to bring the Wildcats back within one.

In the last few minutes of the game the Knights managed to take home the win as Glen Reid scored off a free kick from the left side of the field. Quickly thereafter Tyler Iocco tallied in the final goal of the game, giving the Knights some extra breathing room.

The Wildcats look to bounce back quickly as they face another ECC contender tomorrow (Sept. 22) at 1:30 p.m. when they will host Molloy College.
