FULL RESULTS

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Sophomores Mackenzie Donahue (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) and Hannah Rice (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) led the Daemen College women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish, out of nine competing teams, at the East Coast Conference Championships hosted on campus by Roberts Wesleyan College today.  Daemen accumulated 91 points to sit comfortably ahead of fifth-place Molloy College (140 points).

Roberts Wesleyan placed all five of its scorers in the top-13 finishers in the 5K race to win the conference title, amassing just 27 points.  St. Thomas Aquinas College finished in second place with 52 points.

Donahue and Rice have consistently been Daemen's top two runners all season long, and that trend continued today.  Donahue finished in eighth place with a season-best 5K time of 18:45.3, while Rice also turned in a season-best with her time of 19:11.9 which was good for 11th place.  For their efforts, Donahue and Rice each earned second team all-conference honors.

Rounding out Daemen's scorers was freshman Amy Trabert (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst), senior Noelle Thompson (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) and sophomore Brittany Denton (Oakfield, N.Y./Oakfield-Alabama).  Trabert (20:13.8) and Thompson (20:18.2) earned top-30 finishes, coming in 28th and 30th, respectively, with Thompson's time being a season-best.  Denton wasn't far behind, finishing in 35th place with her season-best time of 20:32.7.

Today's race marked the final entry in the career of Thompson who has been a staple of coach Jessica Gorski's squad over the previous few seasons.

Talya Williams of Long Island University Post won the race outright with her time of 18:23.7, edging out last year's winner, Gladys Kimutai, who finished in second place with her time of 18:24.4.
