WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The newly-established Daemen College women's bowling team hosted its first-ever dual matches tonight, going 1-1 against crosstown rival Medaille College at Transit Lanes. Medaille scored a 777-686 win a Baker-style match before Daemen took the team-style match tonight, 1618-1582.
With tonight's results, Daemen moves to 4-9 overall as it continues to progress through the team's inaugural season.
The Wildcats, under the tutelage of head coach
Jennifer Kinyon, overcame a 21-pin deficit after the first portion of the team-style match. With her team trailing 794-773, freshman
Jess Cunningham (Watervliet, N.Y./Watervliet) erupted for a match-best 217 in the second game, pushing Daemen to the win.
Cunningham paced Daemen with a 186 average today. She was followed by redshirt-freshman
Kaitlyn O'Hara (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) who bowled a 175 average tonight. Sophomore
Julianna Brnik (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East) chipped in with a 168.5 average.
Tallie Papke paced Medaille with a 193 average.
Daemen is idle until meeting Thiel College in Greenville, Pa. on November 19.
