TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, N.J..- The Daemen College women's tennis team returned to East Coast Conference play today, suffering a 7-2 defeat on the road against the Saint Thomas Aquinas College.
The Wildcats fall to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in conference play with today's result. With the win, STAC evens its ECC mark at 3-3 while jumping over the .500 mark overall at 6-5.The Wildcats went 1-2 in doubles competition.
Karli Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y./SUNY Geneseo) and
Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) were the highlight on the day as they defeated STAC's Biance Signire and Sara O'Breun, 8-6. Greatchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) and
Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) fell against Shannon Biehle and Nyenyeri Kanefu while
Sarah Crissy (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) and
Maria McGrath (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) dropped the No. 3 doubles competition against Raven Deleon and Carolyn Kopf.
Hollins pulled through again for the Wildcats in singles competion as she walked away with another solid win against Signire. Hollins is currently 7-3 in singles competition and advanced to 10-4 in doubles competion with Scanlan by her side.
The Wildcats return to competition tomorrow and against Caldwell University on the road in Caldwell, N.J. in a non-conference match at 12:00 p.m.
