Wildcats Host Purple Eagles For Mid-Week Dual-Match

ON THE SIDELINES
Daemen: Stephen Beatty enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats...over the course of his first three seasons, Beatty has guided the Daemen women's tennis team to a 24-46 record...a former collegiate player at Division II Northwood University (Mich.) and Division III D'Youville College, Beatty got his coaching start as an assistant to Kelly Brown, serving for one season - Daemen's inaugural season of tennis competition - before being promoted to the top post.

DAEMEN SCOUTING REPORT (2-5, 0-3 ECC)
Daemen returns seven players from last year's team that tied the program record for overall wins after finishing 8-16 overall and 1-6 in the East Coast Conference...among the returners are the duo of seniors Hayle Scanlan and Karli Hollins...Scanlan enters the season already ranking as the Wildcats' all-time leader in singles victories (33), total singles matches (76), doubles victories (33) and total doubles matches (77)...Hollins went 13-9 in singles play and 17-9 in doubles play, tying teammate Gretchen Ringler's single-season record for singles victories, and establishing a new program record for doubles wins...Ringler, who set the singles record as a freshman in 2014-15, is also back after earning nine more singles wins last season...that tied her for third on the team with fellow returners Jessica Robins and Delaney Fragale...Daemen was picked seventh in the ECC preseason poll...six of Daemen's seven matches this season have been decided by three points or less...Daemen is coming off a 6-3 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas this past Saturday...Hollins and Scanlan each posted singles victories in the dual-match defeat...Scanlan leads the team with six singles wins this season, while Shaylah Iverson is just behind with a 5-3 singles mark...in doubles play, Daemen owns a 15-18 mark as a team, including 11-10 in dual-match play...Ringler leads the way individually with six doubles wins, four of which have come while being paired with Scanlan.

NIAGARA SCOUTING REPORT (0-0, 0-0 MAAC)
Niagara is a member of NCAA Division I and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference...head coach Mike Mucci brings back four players from his 2015-16 roster...the Purple Eagles went 9-12 overall last season, while posting a 5-2 record in MAAC play...the five conference wins placed NU in a three-way tie for second place in the MAAC standings...after tie-breakers were applied, the Purple Eagles entered MAAC Tournament play as the No. 4 seed, falling in the semifinal round to top-seeded Quinnipiac which went on to the win the league title...among the returners this season is sophomore Shannon Wong who led the Purple Eagles with a 13-12 singles mark in 2015-16...Stella Peisakhova and Sharlee Deshmukh also return after combining for 21 singles wins last season...Wednesday's match marks NU's dual-match opener for the 2016-17 season...the Purple Eagles' only action of the season thus far came at the UB Invitational, a tournament in mid-September which featured Buffalo, Toledo and Wright State...Peisakhova claimed the consolation title in the tournament's "A" flight.
