Wildcats Visit Dolphins On Monday

THE LEAD
The Daemen College men's soccer team hits the road for the first time this season, making the trek to Syracuse to face Le Moyne College in another non-conference game...the game will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Dolphins, and the third in the last four seasons.

ON THE SIDELINES
Daemen: Bobby McColl enters his first season at the helm for Daemen after spending the last three seasons as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Roberts Wesleyan College...McColl's tenure at Roberts Wesleyan notably came during that program's ascent to the NCAA Division II level of competition, compiling a 35-20-5 record in that span, including a 12-5-3 mark last season in which McColl led the Redhawks to an apparance in the East Coast Conference Tournament finals and at-large berth in the NCAA Division II National Championships....prior to his time in Rochester, McColl served for one season as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Greenville College (Ill.), leading that NCAA Division III program to a 10-6-3 mark and a second-place finish in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference...a native of Glasgow, Scotland, McColl came stateside to compete collegiately, playing three season at Union University (Tenn.) before finishing his career at Trinity International University (Ill.).

Le Moyne: Tom Bonus is in his 16th year leading the Le Moyne men's soccer program...the 2004 Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year has posted 11 seasons of 10 or more wins, compiling a 171-97-23 record entering the 2016 season...he holds previous head coaching experience at Division III Keuka (1994-97) as well as assistant coaching stops at Division III Plattsburgh and Hobart.
   
DAEMEN SCOUTING REPORT (0-2-0, 0-0-0 ECC)
Daemen returns 13 players from last year's team that finished 2-13-1 overall and 0-9-1 in the East Coast Conference…first-year head coach Bobby McColl returns the team's top two scorers and starting goalkeeper from last year...…sophomore Kyle Tracy and senior Alex Reid shared the team lead in scoring last season, both posting 10 points....Tracy's point total came on his team-leading five goals...Reid has scored 13 goals in his career and totaled 33 points heading into his final season for the Wildcats...sophomore net-minder Justin Figler played every second of every game last season as a true freshman, finishing second in the ECC with 88 saves...also back is senior forward Cole Beale who notched a team-high five goals and 11 points in 2014…in the midfield, Daemen returns a pair of veterans in Nick Sammarco and Logan Podrebarac...Sammarco has made 34 starts in his career to date while Podrebarac started in 14 of his 15 appearances last season while posting five points...senior Austin Stephany returns to anchor the Wildcat defense...he's made 30 appearances in the last two seasons, including 29 starts, since transferring from Division I Buffalo...newcomers who are expected to make an immediate impact include senior forward Colin Edwards, a transfer from Tiffin University, and freshmen backs Kyle White and Joe Keem...Daemen was picked 10th in the 2016 ECC preseason poll...the Wildcats opened the 2016 season with a pair of home losses last week, falling 3-1 to Lock Haven on Sept. 1 and 2-1 in double overtime to Ashland on Sept. 3...freshman back Nate Louk netted the Wildcats' lone goal in the loss to Lock Haven...Beale scored in the 88th minute vs. Ashland to send the game to overtime...it was the ninth goal of his career...Figler made eight saves in the loss to Ashland, and he ranks second among ECC goalkeepers with 11 saves so far this season...Reid has yet to make his season debut as he works his way back from an injury.
   
LE MOYNE SCOUTING REPORT (0-0-1, 0-0-0 NE-10)
Le Moyne returns 16 players from last year's team that finished 12-6-1 overall and 8-4-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference...despite falling in the opening round of the NE-10 Conference Tournament, the Dolphins were awarded an at-large bid to the East Regional portion of the NCAA Division II National Championship, the program's first national tournament bid since 2009...head coach Tom Bonus is left to deal with the loss of leading scorer Cal Filtch to graduation...Filtch was a first-team All-NE-10 selection after leading the league with 31 points last season (8 gls, 15 asts)...leading the Dolphin returners is senior back Jack Ball who earned second-team All-NE-10 honors last season after posting 14 points on seven goals...the Dolphins also return goalkeeper Ben Beaury who started all 19 contests last season, posting a .753 save percentage and a 1.07 goals-against average, the latter ranking third among NE-10 net-minders...Le Moyne was picked to finish fourth in the 2016 NE-10 preseason poll...the Dolphins are coming off a 2-2 tie in their 2016 opener this past Saturday vs. ECC member Mercy...the Dolphins got on the board first with a goal from freshman Salar Faryar in the 11th minute, and another from redshirt-junior Marcello Palucci in the 53rd minute...but, Mercy rallied with two second-half goals, despite being out-shot in the game 21-12.

THIS DAYS IN DAEMEN MEN'S SOCCER HISTORY
Sept. 5: Daemen suffered a 2-0 loss at Slippery Rock to open the 2015 season...playing in his first collegiate game, Alex Reid took a crossing feed from Kyle Clifford and knocked home the game-winning goal in a 3-2 double-overtime victory at rival Roberts Wesleyan in 2013...Clifford netted the lone Daemen goal in a 4-1 loss to Maine-Fort Kent in 2011...Erik Tellgren scored in overtime to deliver to a 2-1 win over Paul Smith's College in 2010.
   
ON THE HORIZON
Daemen returns home to host California (Pa.) on Saturday, Sept. 10, before heading across town to matchup with Division III D'Youville on Sunday, Sept. 11 in Buffalo.
