For Communications Women's Tennis Hosts SIU In Spring Season Opener Friday Wildcats Enter Spring Season Three Wins Shy Of Setting New Program Record THE SERVE The Daemen College women's tennis team resumes its 2016-17 season by hosting a non-conference dual match vs. Salem International University on Friday evening...the Wildcats have been idle since going 6-11 during the fall season, placing them just three wins shy of setting a new team record for wins...Friday's match is the first of seven for Daemen this spring.   DUAL MATCH INFORMATION Daemen vs. Salem International Date: Friday, Feb. 17 Time: 7:00 p.m. Location: Miller Tennis Center - Williamsville, N.Y.     MATCH LINKS Daemen Roster Salem International Roster Daemen Schedule Salem International Schedule Daemen Stats     SOCIAL MEDIA Daemen Twitter: @DaemenAthletics, @DaemenTennis Daemen Hashtags: #DCWildcatNation, #WNYsD2Team, #LiveBreatheDaemen, #beFIERCE Salem International Twitter: @SIUTigers    ON THE SIDELINES Stephen Beatty enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats...over the course of his first three seasons, Beatty has guided the Daemen women's tennis team to a 24-46 record...a former collegiate player at Division II Northwood University (Mich.) and Division III D'Youville College, Beatty got his coaching start as an assistant to Kelly Brown, serving for one season - Daemen's inaugural season of tennis competition - before being promoted to the top post.   DAEMEN GROUND STROKES (6-11, 1-6 ECC) Daemen returns seven players from last year's team that tied the program record for overall wins after finishing 8-16 overall and 1-6 in the East Coast Conference...among the returners are the duo of seniors Hayle Scanlan and Karli Hollins...Scanlan enters the season already ranking as the Wildcats' all-time leader in singles victories (33), total singles matches (76), doubles victories (33) and total doubles matches (77)...Hollins went 13-9 in singles play and 17-9 in doubles play, tying teammate Gretchen Ringler's single-season record for singles victories, and establishing a new program record for doubles wins...Ringler, who set the singles record as a freshman in 2014-15, is also back after earning nine more singles wins last season...that tied her for third on the team with fellow returner Jessica Robins...Daemen was picked seventh in the ECC preseason poll...seven of Daemen's 17 matches this season have been decided by three points or less...after staring the fall with just two wins in their first eight outings, Daemen regrouped to go 4-5 from Oct. 7 on...Scanlan has added 10 singles wins and nine doubles wins to her career record totals, leading the team in both categories this season... Shaylah Iverson, who made her return to the team last fall after a two-year hiatus, posted a 9-8 singles record, while Robins went 8-11...in doubles play, Ringler has matched Scanlan's nine wins to share the team lead.   SALEM INTERNATIONAL GROUND STROKES (0-0) SIU is located in Salem, W. Va. and the Tigers are an independent member of NCAA Division II...SIU, which is in just its second year as an intercollegiate program, is led by interim head coach Florin Marton...the Tigers return three players from their inaugural roster which achieved an overall record of 5-18 last season...sophomore Waverly Federico and junior Jen Foreman headline the returners after posting three singles wins apiece last season...Friday's match marks SIU's first action of the season.   DAEMEN VS.
