With the win, Daemen improves to 7-11 this season and moves within one victory of tying the team record for wins in a season.  Tonight marked Daemen's first action since closing out the fall season back on Oct. 23 with a 9-0 loss to eventual East Coast Conference champion N.Y. Institute of Technology.  It's the third straight season that the Wildcats have won their spring season opener. SIU, an independent member of NCAA Division II, fell to 0-1 as tonight's match marked their first of the season. Daemen opened the match by racing through doubles action, dropping only one game between the three matchups.  Senior Karli Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y./SUNY Geneseo) teamed with sophomore Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) to win 8-0 in first doubles, as did senior Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) and junior Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) in second doubles.  In the third doubles position, it was redshirt-senior Shaylah Iverson (Canandaigua, N.Y./Naples) teaming with sophomore Morgan Park (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) for an 8-1 defeat of SIU's Waverly Federico and Megan Perez. Singles play saw more of the same as Hollins (first), Scanlan (second), Robins (fourth) and Iverson (fifth) skated by with identical 6-0, 6-0 wins in their respective positions.  Ringler went nearly unblemished in defeating Shelby Turpin in third singles (6-1, 6-0), and Park scored a 6-4, 6-1 win in sixth singles over Perez to complete the Wildcats' third win by shutout this season. The wins for Scanlan tonight extended her program record totals for career victories in both singles and doubles action.  Overt the course of her four-year career, Scanlan has racked up 44 singles wins and 43 doubles victories.  She is 11-8 in singles play to lead the team this season, and is tied with Ringler for the team lead in doubles wins with 10. Iverson recorded her 10th singles win of the season tonight, improving to 10-8 this season in her return to the team following a two-year hiatus.  Iverson has 25 singles wins in her career which presently ranks third all-time at Daemen behind Scanlan and Ringler (28). Daemen returns to action a week from tonight (Friday, Feb. 24) when it hosts Davis and Elkins College in another non-league dual match.Print Friendly Version Players Mentioned Karli Hollins 5' 5" Senior Morgan Park 5' 2" Sophomore Gretchen Ringler 5' 5" Junior Jessica Robins 5' 0" Sophomore Hayle Scanlan 5' 5" Senior Shaylah Iverson 5' 6" Redshirt Senior Players Mentioned Karli Hollins 5' 5" Senior Morgan Park 5' 2" Sophomore Gretchen Ringler 5' 5" Junior Jessica Robins 5' 0" Sophomore Hayle Scanlan 5' 5" Senior Shaylah Iverson 5' 6" Redshirt Senior
