Sophmore Tiffany Cycon broke her own school record in the 60-meter and 200-meter dash Women's Track & Field 2/18/2017 6:14:00 PM Lea Sobieraski, Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant Wildcat Women Place Second At Brockport Meet BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Daemen College women's indoor track and field team finished fourth in the team standings at the Golden Eagle Invite hosted by the College at Brockport today. The squad finished with a total of 96 points, while Brockport took home first place with 170 points. Multiple Wildcats finished in the top-eight to contribute to the overall point total, along with the establishment of three new school records. Tiffany Cycon (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) was the headliner today for the Wildcats, adding 12 individual points for her performances in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash. The sprinting standout broke her own school record twice for the 60-meter dash in the same day. Cycon topped her preliminary heat with a record-breaking time of 8.04 seconds, eclipsing her previous mark of 8.07 she set earlier this season. She went on to finish third in the 60-meter dash finals with a still-better time of 7.99 seconds. Cycon added another third-place finish in the 200-meter dash as well today, completing that race in 26.28 seconds, smashing her own benchmark once again (26.58). Daemen's 4x800 meter relay team consisting of Brittany Denton (Oakfield, N.Y./Oakfield-Alabama), Katherine Robinson (Pasadena, Calif./Pasadena), Shania LiVecchi (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West), and Morgan Urbanek (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) finished first, good for 10 points. The squad crossed the finish line in 10:19.74, demolishing the previous Wildcat benchmark of 10:47.43, as well as establishing a new Brockport facility record. Urbanek and Robinson finished first and second respectively in the 1000-meter run. Urbanek, a senior middle-distance athlete, ran the event in 3:18.34, giving Daemen 10 points. Robinson also a senior middle-distance athlete finished in 3:19.63, good for 8 points. Denton and Livecchi both ran the 1-mile. The duo placed fourth and fifth out of 18 entrants, while contributing six and five points correspondingly. Denton crossed the finish line in 5:27.27, followed by Livecchi in 5:30.44. In long-distance, Amy Trabert (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst) and Ashley Cheff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) paved the way for the Wildcats. In the 3,000-meter event, the pair racked up first and second place respectively. Trabert finished with 10 points in a time of 10:57.59, while Cheff narrowly trailed with 8 points in a time of 11:06.23. Other highlights on the track today included a strong performance from sophomore Sam Carrow (Canandaigua,N.Y./Canandaigua) in the 60-meter hurdles. She finished second in her qualifying heat, posting a time of 9.83 and finished third in the finals with a time of 9.88 seconds (6 points). Sydney McDonough (Alfred Stateton, N.Y./Alfred-Almond Central) ran the 400-meter dash in 1:00.97, also finishing third (6 points). Carrie Akin (Akron, N.Y./Akron) placed eighth in the 500-meter dash, with a time of 1:28.83 (1 point). In field events, Kyra Kress (Wayland, N.Y./Alfred-Almond Central) teamed with freshman Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) put forth a good showing in the pole vault. The duo finished in a three-way tie for fourth place, having each cleared 2.95 meters, contributing 3 points apiece to Daemen's overall total. Hannah Miller (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) added a 16th and 18th place finish in the weight throw and shot put. The Wildcats are back in action next weekend when they travel to Staten Island to compete in the East Coast Conference Championships slated for Friday, February 24.
