Daemen was going for its second consecutive win after defeating Franklin College 8-1 Tuesday evening to record the team's ninth win of the season, setting a new program record for wins in a season.  Tonight's loss drops the Wildcats to 9-14 on the year. USI, a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, improved to 6-4 on the season.  The Soaring Eagles have now won three-straight matches, rebounding from an 0-4 stretch from Feb. 11 through Mar. 8. USI swept through doubles play to open the match.  Daemen got good efforts from seniors Karli Hollins (Orchard  Park, N.Y./SUNY Geneseo) and Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) at the top of the lineup and from red-shirt senior Shaylah Iverson (Canandaigua, N.Y./Naples) and sophomore Morgan Park (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) on the third doubles court, but both duos fell 8-5 and 8-4, respectively. In singles play, only Scanlan could break through with a point for the Wildcats.  She won 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 on the second singles court over USI's Brenna Wu who led the Soaring Eagles in singles wins a season ago.  Scanlan is now 2-0 all-time in singles matches played in her home state of Indiana, and tonight's win upped her program-record number of career singles victories to 47, while also establishing a new team record for singles wins in a season with 14 this year.
