ON THE SIDELINES
Stephen Beatty enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats...over the course of his first three seasons, Beatty has guided the Daemen men's tennis team to a 19-49 record...a former collegiate player at Division II Northwood University (Mich.) and Division III D'Youville College, Beatty got his coaching start as an assistant to Kelly Brown, serving for one season - Daemen's inaugural season of tennis competition - before being promoted to the top post.

DAEMEN GROUND STROKES (5-14, 0-1 ECC)
Daemen has rebounded from a slow start to win three of its last six dual matches, two of which have come by shutout...with five wins this season, the Wildcats have matched their win total from all of the 2015-16 season when they went 5-17 overall...the recent stretch of solid play began with a 9-0 shutout victory over Millersville on Mar. 5...in the win, senior John LeMar picked up the 31st doubles win of his career to become the program's all-time leader...freshman Fabian Wilde won in both singles and doubles against Millersville, and was subsequently named the ECC Rookie of the Week for matches played Feb. 27 through Mar. 5...the Wildcats followed up with back-to-back wins over Franklin (9-0) and Earlham (5-4)...Daemen enters this weekend's action having lost three-straight, including a pair of 5-4 defeats to Bellarmine and District of Columbia...the loss to UDC came in both teams' ECC opener on March 24...in the loss to the UDC, junior Mark Veitengruber earned the 33rd singles win of his career, breaking the program record set by Gregory Lowe from 2012-16...Veitengruber, who set the program record for singles in in a season last year with 13, leads the team in singles wins this season with eight...Wilde and fellow newcomer Ricardo Ruiz Martinez have seven singles wins apiece, while LeMar and sophomores David Gonzalez Villegas and Justin Milner have posted six singles victories each...in doubles play, Gonzalez Villegas and Ruiz Martinez have teamed together to go 6-5, while Milner and senior Adam Kerr have come on to go 3-1 recently...individually, Gonzalez Villegas leads the team with 10 doubles wins, tying the program record for doubles wins in a season...the Wildcats were picked sixth in the ECC preseason poll.

NYIT GROUND STROKES (5-2, 0-0 ECC)
NYIT is led by interim head coach Rich Bustamante who took the reins of the program last fall after Jason Pasion was appointed to the head coaching position at Division I Hofstra...he inherits a program which has made five-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the national quarterfinals last season when the Bears finished 21-4 overall...NYIT, which has won four-straight ECC titles, was the near unanimous pick atop the ECC preseason poll again this season...the Bears' roster features eight returners from 2015-16, including the reigning ECC Player of the Year, senior Matej Selecky...a three-time All-Conference selection, Selecky went 16-3 in singles play and 18-5 in doubles action last season...also returning are fellow All-Conference selections Rafal Charkiewicz, Rares Ispas and David Jiang...the Bears saw their five-match winning streak halted with a 6-3 loss to Chestnut Hill on March 24...NYIT hosts Roberts Wesleyan in their ECC opener Friday before facing Daemen Saturday...the Bears are ranked 32nd in the latest ITA-NCAA Division II poll, and have won 27-straight ECC contests (both regular season and conference tournament play).
