Mackenzie Donahue earned two individual titles for the Wildcats Women's Track & Field 4/22/2017 6:19:00 PM Lea Sobieraski, Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant Women's Track & Field Places Fifth At ECC Outdoor Championships WEST NYACK, N.Y. – The Daemen College women's track and field team posted a fifth–place showing at the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships held this afternoon in West Nyack, N.Y. The Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks claimed the team championship for the fourth-straight year. The Wildcats accumulated 70 points, finishing just 15 points behind fourth-place LIU Post, today's performance marks the second consecutive year Daemen has finished fifth in the conference. Senior Mackenzie Donahue (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) and sophomore Kyra Kress (Wayland, N.Y./Alfred-Almond Central) both claimed individual titles for the Wildcats. Donahue started off the day by placing first in the 10,000-meter run with a conference-record time of 38:31.11. Later, she added another first-place showing and ECC record in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 17:15.80. Kress placed first in the pole vault (2.90 meters) and also finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.30). Junior Amy Trabert (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst) took part in the 10,000 and 5,000-meter runs. She finished third in the 10,000 meters with a time of 40:17.80, followed by a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:36.74. Sydney McDonough (Alfred Station, N.Y./Alfred-Almond Central) posted a school-record time of 1:00.15 in the 400-meter dash, eclipsing her own school-record time of 1:00.38, finishing fifth overall. Sophomore Tiffany Cycon (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.74 seconds), while classmate Sam Carro (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) also posted a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (15.82). Cycon also added an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.79. Senior Ashley Cheff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagra Falls) placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run, crossing the finish line in 5:01.81. Teammate Morgan Urbanek (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) finished sixth behind Cheff with a time of 5:07.58. Daemen's relay teams all fared well. The 4x400 team consisting of Cycon, McDonough, Kress, and Donahue placed third with a time of 4:17.36. The 4x800 relay team placed fifth, while the 4x100 team finished sixth. The 4x800 team of Urbanek, LiVeechi, junior Katherine Robinson (Pasadena, Calif./Pasadena), and freshman Julia Gaeta (Kenmore, N.Y./Kenmore West) posted a time of 10:35.60, while the 4x100 relay team of Cycon, Carro, sophomore Rachel Roberson (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home), and freshman Jaila Payne (Buffalo, N.Y./McKinley) posted a time of 51.98 seconds. In field events, freshman Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) posted a third-place finish in the pole vault. Haude also cleared 2.90 meters like teammate Kress, but Kress got it on her first attempt compared to Haude who got the clear on her third effort. Daemen returns to action next weekend when it takes part in the University at Buffalo Invitational on Saturday, April 29.
