Feneziani Finishes 3rd At Redhawk Invite To Lead Men's Golf

REDHAWK INVITATIONAL - FULL RESULTS

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Senior Mitch Feneziani (West Seneca, N.Y.) carded a second-round 72 and finished in third place out of 39 total competitors to lead the Daemen College men's golf team at the Redhawk Invitational. The tournament, held over the last two days, was hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College at the par-72 Ridgemont Country Club.

Feneziani, who sat in a seven-way tie for second place after carding a 77 in Sunday's opening round, went five strokes lower today for a two-round total score of 149 (+5), establishing a new career-best for a two-round tournament. The second-round 72 also matched the lowest single round of Feneziani's collegiate career which was set all the way back in his freshman season (first round of the Northeast Challenge on Oct. 4, 2014 at Concord Country Club). Playing in the 22nd tournament of his career, Feneziani has now carded 20 rounds in the 70's (out of 39 total rounds). Four of the seven top-10 finishes in Feneziani's career have come since the start of the 2016-17 season.

As a team, Daemen finished fifth out of eight competing teams after posting a combined score of 632 (+56). Topping the tournament field was the University of Rochester with a two-round total score of 599 (+23). The Yellow Jackets were the lone team to post a sub-300 score in either of the two rounds, combining for a second-round 292 (+4). Tournament host Roberts Wesleyan finished second with a combined score of 615 (+39).

Newcomer Tyler Hockenberger (Greece, N.Y.) carded back-to-back rounds of 78 for a total score of 156 (+12). He finished in a four-way tie for 12th place, his highest finish in a Daemen uniform after tying for 34th place while making his debut at the season-opening Malone Fall Classic.

Junior Ryan Gibbons (Amherst, N.Y.), who paced Daemen with a 12th-place finish at the Malone Fall Classic, rebounded from a tough start to finish 19th this time around. Gibbons posted a first-round 85, snapping a string of four consecutive rounds in the 70's dating back to last season. But, the Daemen junior bounced back with a second-round 76 for a two-round total of 161 (+17).

Redshirt senior Max Winterburn (Harrogate, England) and senior Pauley Pitcher II (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) rounded out the Daemen competitors. Winterburn (86/82/168) finished in a tie for 27th, and Pitcher (84/85/169) finished in a tie for 29th.

Daemen returns to action at the Mercyhurst Invitational which is slated for Sept. 24-25 at Lake View Country Club in North East, Pa.
