MERCYHURST INVITATIONAL — FULL RESULTS
NORTH EAST, Pa. - Senior Mitch Feneziani (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) continued his solid play this fall and led the Daemen College men's golf team to a 10th-place finish at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational. The 13-team tournament took place Sunday and today at the par-72 Lake View Country Club.
Feneziani fired a one-over-par 73 during the opening round and followed up with a 77 today. This two-day score of 150 placed him tied for 14th out of 73 golfers. Feneziani, who scored a career-best 72 during the Redhawk Fall Invitational last weekend, has now posted a score in the 70's during all six of his rounds this fall and owns a team-best 75.2 stroke average.
Humber College claimed the team championship with a two-day score of 599—three strokes better than second place West Chester University (602). Freshman Louie Olsakovsky of Allegheny College carded a two-under-par 70 during the opening round and edged Luke McLean of Humber by one stoke to claim individual medalist honors with a two-day score of 143 (-1).
Junior Ryan Gibbons (Amherst, N.Y./Canisius) also posted back-to-back scores in the 70's for Daemen, as he scored a 77 today and finished tied for 28th with a two-day score of 156 (+12). Gibbons has now posted a score in the 70's in seven of his last eight rounds dating back to last spring. Junior college transfer Tyler Hockenberger (Greece, N.Y./Monroe CC) narrowly missed a top-50 finish, as he finished tied for 56th with a two day score of 164 (83-81).
Seniors Pauley Pitcher II (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Charles W. Baker) and Max Winterburn (Harrogate, England) also competed for the Wildcats and both rebounded today after struggling during the opening round. Pitcher posted an 81 today and finished 66th with a 169, while Winterburn also carded an 81 today and finished tied for 67th with a 170.
The Wildcats return to the Keystone State this weekend to take part in the Howard "Bud" Elwell Invitational hosted by Gannon University. The two-day tournament will take place Sunday (Oct. 1) and Monday (Oct. 2) at Whispering Woods Golf Club in Erie, Pa.
