ERIE, Pa. - The Daemen College men's golf team took part in the Howard "Bud" Elwell Invitational this past weekend. The two-day tournament was hosted by Gannon University and took place at the par-72 Whispering Woods Golf Club. Daemen, which has participated in this event each of the last four years, placed ninth out of the nine schools entered.
Mercyhurst University claimed the team championship with a score of 596 (+20). Gannon placed second with a 607 (+31), just ahead of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (612) and Humber College (619). Daemen was paced by senior senior Ryan Gibbons (Amherst, N.Y.) who shot a team-best 78 during the second round today and finished tied for 27th with a 159 (81-78). Fellow senior Tyler Hockenberger (Greece, N.Y.) tied Gibbons for the team low score during the opening round on Sunday with an 81. He followed up with an 84 today and finished tied for 39th with a 165.
