BROCKPORT ALUMNI & MULTI INVITATIONAL - FULL RESULTS

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Standout athletes Rodney Corbin (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Sullivan Keller (Alden, N.Y.) each posted team records as the Daemen College men's track and field team opened the 2018-19 indoor season by competing at the Brockport Alumni and Multi Invitational today. The season-opening meet was held at the Special Events Recreation Center on the campus of the College at Brockport.

Corbin, a 5-foot-7 sophomore sprinter, advanced to the 60 meter dash finals with a preliminary heat time of 7.07 seconds. He went on to place third in the final heat, crossing the finish line in 7.01 seconds, a time that matched his own team record which was set at the Highlander Invitational last January. Corbin was a second team All-East Coast Conference performer at the 60 meter distance last winter.

Keller continued his stellar career in throwing events for the Wildcats, earning a pair of top-10 finishes in the 35 pound weight throw and shot put. He placed ninth in the weight throw, shattering Zach Laird's team record (12.54 meters) with a toss of 14.29 meters. He went on to place seventh in the shot put with a long throw of 13.27 meters.

The 200 meter dash was perhaps Daemen's deepest event of the day as the Wildcats saw four sprinters place among the top 11, out of 32 total competitors. Freshman Ethan Majewski (Pendleton, N.Y.) shined in his collegiate debut, placing third with a time of 23.63 seconds, less than one second off the team record pace set (22.84) by former Wildcat Niko Jemmison in 2016. Corbin placed sixth in the event with a time of 23.77 seconds. Tyler Compo (Lancaster, N.Y.) and Drew Greenaway (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished 10th (24.62) and 11th (24.63) respectively, with just one-hundredth of a second separating them.

Also on the track today was sophomore Mike Swiniarski (Akron, N.Y.) who ran the 5,000 meter race in 16:31.65, placing sixth out of 14 competitors. Swiniarski is looking to build upon the efforts he put forth with the Daemen cross country team this fall. He was the team's top finisher in all seven races and earned second team All-ECC honors.

Freshman Drew Boudeman (Newfane, N.Y.) had a successful collegiate debut as he placed seventh in the triple jump. His leap of 12.34 meters was within striking distance of Alex Reid's team record (12.54 meters) which was set back in 2014.

Today's meet marked the earliest that Daemen has ever opened a season. The 2018-19 campaign marks the seventh indoor season in team history.

Daemen will return to action next Friday, Dec. 7 at the Houghton December Classic.
