Men's Track & Field Concludes Action at Blue Devil Invitational

FREDONIA, N.Y. — The Daemen men's track and field team competed in its final meet before the ECC Championships next week, taking part in the Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday. 

CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) placed second in the 800m, while Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio), placed third in the 1500m. Ibrahim Hakizimana (Rochester, N.Y.) also took fourth in the 800m. Adam Kamagate (Hilton, N.Y.) placed 10th in the 400m and Owen Dernbach (Alden, N.Y.) took seventh in the long jump.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Keating earned a bronze medal in the 1500m, posting a personal-best time of 4:09.48, good for 10th in program history. 
  • Daemen logged two top-five finishes in the 800m, with Johnson earning a silver medal, posting a time of 1:57.89, ranking seventh in program history. Hakizimana finished fourth with a time of 1:59.69.
  • In the 200m, Zayvion Davis (Lansing, N.Y) earned a sixth-place result with a time of 23.89 seconds.
  • Kamagate placed sixth in the prelims of the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 16.88 seconds. The senior finished 10th in the 400m, posting a PR time of 52.74 seconds.
  • The 4x100 relay team of Davis, Dernbach, Devon Mendez (Hartford, Conn.), and Seth Connery (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) placed sixth with a time of 44.28 seconds.
  • In the long jump, Dernbach leaped 6.21m, good for seventh place. 
  • Kamagate also placed eighth in the javelin with a 25.13m toss.

The Wildcats compete at the ECC Championships on Thursday in Rochester, N.Y., hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.
