Daemen Records Multiple Top-10 Results at UB Alumni Invitational

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Daemen men's track and field team made the quick trip north to compete at the UB Alumni Invitational on Friday. 

CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) continued his strong season with a fifth-place and program record-breaking performance in the 1500m. Adam Kamagate (Hilton, N.Y.) logged two top ten finishes. Daemen's 4x100 relay team of Owen Dernbach (Alden, N.Y.), Zayvion Davis (Lansing, N.Y.), Devon Mendez (Hartford, Conn.), and Seth Connery (North Tonawanda, N.Y) placed fourth. 

 HIGHLIGHTS 
  • Johnson came in fifth place in the 1500m, logging a time of 3:57.31. The junior broke his personal best time and the program record that he previously held. 
  • The 4x100m relay team of Dernbach, Davis, Mendez, and Connery placed fourth with a time of 44.36 seconds, ranking sixth in program history. 
  • Senior Adam Kamagate (Hilton, N.Y.) came in ninth in the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 16.18 seconds. 
  • Kamagate finished eighth in the 400m hurdles, coming in at 1:00.46.
  • Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) finished the 5,000m in a personal-best time of 15:31.13, good for eighth place and fifth in the program record book. Simon Evans (Galway, N.Y.) placed 14th with a time 16:18.83
  • Johnson also came in 15th in the 800m with a time of 1:58.59. 
  • Connery took 18th in the 200m dash, finishing in 23.14 seconds. 
  • In the jump pit, Dernbach placed 13th in the long jump, leaping 5.92m.

The Wildcats compete in their final regular-season meet next week, heading to St. John Fisher on Saturday for the Cardinal Classic.
