Meyer Breaks Triple Jump Record To Pace Wildcats 12/7/2018 8:55:00 PM By: By Jake Carlson, Athletics Communications Graduate Assistant HOUGHTON COLLEGE DECEMBER CLASSIC - FULL RESULTS HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Freshman sprinter Nazjahe Boswell (Rochester, N.Y.) and Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) both shined for the Daemen College women's track and field team at the Houghton College December Classic today. The second meet of the indoor season was hosted at the Kerr-Pegula Fieldhouse. Boswell posted two top-three finishes for the second consecutive meet after competing in the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Boswell finished first in the 60 meter dash preliminary race with a time of 7.99 seconds, then finished second in the final heat with a time of 8.00 seconds. In the 200-meter, she placed third with a time of 27.03. Meyer competed in both the long jump and the triple jump. She finished with a long jump of 4.65 meters. Her triple jump of 10.57 meters placed her fourth and also broke her own team record of 10.31 meters. Redshirt freshman Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) also achieved a top-ten finish in the one mile run. She finished eighth with a time of 5:52:29. Sophomore Betty Jones (Camillus, N.Y.) and freshman Sophie Sheffer (Custom Park, N.Y.) both competed in throwing events for the Wildcats. Jones achieved a top-ten finish in the 20-pound weight throw with a long toss of 11.91 meters which placed her sixth. Jones added an 11th-place finish in the shot put, and Sheffer placed 17th. The Wildcats compete again on January 12 at the RIT Invitational in Rochester, N.Y.
