MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Daemen College women's outdoor track and field team closed out its 2018 season by taking part in the Gator Invite hosted by Allegheny College here today.

Junior sprinter Tiffany Cycon (Lancaster, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats today with two top-five finishes. She placed fifth out of seven entrants in the 100 meters with a time of 12.81 seconds. She followed up by placing second out of 12 sprinters in the 200 meters with a school-record time time of 26.19 seconds. She broke her own school record of 26.33 seconds which she set during the 2017 Geneseo Early Spring Invitational.

Junior Kyra Kress (Wayland, N.Y.) narrowly broke her own school record in the 400 meter hurdles, as she placed eighth with a time of 1:08.97. Her previous school-record time of 1:07.11 was set last month at the Cortland Please Stop Snowing Invitational.

Additional highlights during the track events included a sixth-place finish by senior Amy Trabert (Amherst, N.Y.) in the 5,000 meters (18:33.59), a seventh-place effort by senior Brittany Denton (Oakfield, N.Y.) in the 1,500 meters (4:52.14) and a seventh-place showing by freshman Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) in the 800 meters (2:21.02).

Daemen's 4x400 relay team of ran unopposed and posted a time of 4:11.63—just three seconds off the school-record time.

Freshman Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) capped off her outstanding rookie season with two top-10 showings during the field events. She placed second among eight entrants in the triple jump (10.33 meters) and finished eighth in the long jump (4.44 meters). Kress capped a solid day with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault by clearinf 3.02 meters.
