AMHERST, N.Y. -
Brittany Denton (Oakfield, N.Y.) of Daemen College has been named to the
Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Track/Cross Country Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Denton, who recently graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree, has competed in both cross country and track and field at Daemen over the last five years while carrying a 3.79 grade-point average. She completed her four-year cross country career during the 2016 season, one year after earning second team All-East Coast Conference honors for her 12th-place finish at the league championship meet. She also earned a combined nine all-conference accolades between the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons over the course of her career, including a pair of first team nods this past winter. At the ECC Indoor Track and Field Championships in February, she placed second in the one mile run and also claimed the league's individual champion honors for the 1,000 meter run.Â
The Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.
