BACK IN THE SADDLE
Head coach Bobby McColl returns for his third season on the Daemen sidelines in 2018, and his seventh overall as a collegiate head coach. McColl heads into the 2018 season with a career coaching record of 54-52-8 with previous stops as the head men's coach at Greenville College (2012) and the head women's coach at Roberts Wesleyan College (2013-15). In 2017, he led Daemen to records of 7-11 (overall) and 3-6 (ECC). The team's overall win total matched the program record for wins in a season.

ECC PRESEASON POLL
Following a vote of the league's head coaches, Daemen has been picked to finish 9th in the East Coast Conference this season. The Wildcats went 7-11 overall and 3-6 in league play last season. The University of the District of Columbia was picked to finish first edging out last year's champions LIU Post by five votes.

SUPER SOPHS
The Wildcats return 14 sophomores to the roster, the majority of which gained valuable playing experience last season. The group is headlined by forward/defender Noah Keem who tallied a team-high nine goals and 22 points last season en route to third team All-ECC honors. The Wildcats also return starting midfielders Anthony Cupello and Niklas Ringdahl Bohlin; the two started all 18 games for the Wildcats last season and were top two on the team in assists with 15 combined between them. Cupello's nine helpers ranked fourth among all ECC players. Also back is sophomore forward Finn Krueger who scored five goals and notched 14 points.

BETWEEN THE PIPES
Sophomore Jarrett Lecceadone (Randolph, N.Y.) is the lone returner among four goalkeepers on the roster this season. Lecceadone appeared in nine games and made five starts as a true freshman in 2017, posting a save percentage of .682 and a 2.38 goals against average. Freshmen Philipp Schmidt, Ryan Moretta and Eithan Hahn will compete for playing time between the pipes.

WALSH SCOUTING REPORT
Walsh University is in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, and it is coached by third-year head coach Andy Hoggarth. During his tenure, Hoggarth has led the Cavaliers to a 13-20-3 record, steadily improving each year. He led Walsh to the postseason last year for the first time after a three-year absence. The Cavaliers return most of their starters from last season, with most of them being sophomores and juniors. Sophomore J.P. Ajala-Alexis returns after posting a team-best 10 goals and 24 points in 2017. Ajala-Alexis was selected for the All-GMAC team in his freshman year as one of the top goal scoring threats in the conference. Walsh was picked to finish ninth in the conference this season after finishing eighth last year.
