Women's Tennis 9/15/2018 12:13:00 PM By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications Stasiuk, Robins Battle At ITA Regional Tournament Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. - Daemen College women's tennis players Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Christina Stasiuk (Bowmansville, N.Y.) combined to go 1-3 in matches at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Championships being held this weekend at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. In the singles qualifying draw, Robins picked up an 8-6 victory over her opening-round opponent, Sabrina Blasi-Smith of Wilmington University. That pushed Robins into the second round, just one win shy of advancing to the main singles draw, but it was there that she fell 8-2 to Marta Nunez of Le Moyne College. Stasiuk, who set the program record for singles wins in a season last year with 18, fell 9-8 in her first round match against Stonehill College's Nicole Downey. In the main doubles draw, Robins and Stasiuk dropped an 8-2 decision in the opening round to Samantha Perri and Nicole Kielen from Adelphi University. The ITA East Region Championships bring together players from many of the teams that comprise the East Region of NCAA Division II for a weekend-long competition. With Robins and Stasiuk both eliminated from tournament play, the Wildcats set their sights back on dual match play. The team returns to action next weekend with non-conference road matches against Seton Hill University (Sept. 22) and Slippery Rock University (Sept. 23).
