BACK IN THE SADDLE
Head coach Bobby McColl returns for his third season on the Daemen sidelines in 2018, and his seventh overall as a collegiate head coach. McColl heads into the 2018 season with a career coaching record of 54-52-8 with previous stops as the head men's coach at Greenville College (2012) and the head women's coach at Roberts Wesleyan College (2013-15). In 2017, he led Daemen to records of 7-11 (overall) and 3-6 (ECC). The team's overall win total matched the program record for wins in a season. 

ECC PRESEASON POLL
Following a vote of the league's head coaches, Daemen has been picked to finish 9th in the East Coast Conference this season. The Wildcats went 7-11 overall and 3-6 in league play last season. The University of the District of Columbia was picked to finish first edging out last year's champions LIU Post by five votes.

SUPER SOPHS
The Wildcats return 14 sophomores to the roster, the majority of which gained valuable playing experience last season. The group is headlined by forward/defender Noah Keem who tallied a team-high nine goals and 22 points last season en route to third team All-ECC honors. The Wildcats also return starting midfielders Anthony Cupello and Niklas Ringdahl Bohlin; the two started all 18 games for the Wildcats last season and were top two on the team in assists with 15 combined between them. Cupello's nine helpers ranked fourth among all ECC players. Also back is sophomore forward Finn Krueger who scored five goals and notched 14 points. 

BETWEEN THE PIPES
Sophomore Jarrett Lecceadone (Randolph, N.Y.) is the lone returner among four goalkeepers on the roster this season. Lecceadone appeared in nine games and made five starts as a true freshman in 2017, posting a save percentage of .682 and a 2.38 goals against average. Freshmen Philipp SchmidtRyan Moretta and Eithan Hahn will compete for playing time between the pipes. Philipp Schmidt was given the nod in the first two games of the year recording his first career shutout in a 1-0 win against Malone.

OHIO ROAD TRIP
The Wildcats traveled to Ohio for its season openers against Walsh University and Malone University. The Wildcats came out 1-1 after losing 4-0 to Walsh and winning 1-0 against Malone. Sophomore midfielder Anthony Cupello scored the lone goal for the Wildcats over the weekend for the second game-winning goal of his career.
 
LE MOYNE SCOUTING REPORT
Le Moyne College is in the Northeast 10 Conference, and the Dolphins are coached by Tim Bonus who is in his 18th season with the program. During his tenure, Bonus has led the Dolphins to a 197-108-25 record, with a 2-0 record so far this year. Bonus has led the Dolphins to 10 or more wins in 13 of his 17 seasons. The Dolphins lost eight players from the 2017 season with most of them being seniors and graduates. Those returning for the Dolphins are graduate forward Marek Weber, junior Salar Faryar and graduate defender Niklas Breunung. The German trio were all voted as part of the All-Region team in 2017. Weber earned first team honors, Faryar earned second team and Breunung earned third team. Weber lead the NE-10 in goals (18), points (38) and game-winning goals (7) in the 2017 season. The Dolphins were picked to finish fifth out of 14 in the NE-10 preseason poll, voted on by the coaches of the conference with one first place vote. The Dolphins started off its season 2-0 with wins against Lock Haven University by a score of 1-0 and a 5-1 win against Jefferson.

UP NEXT
Daemen opens up its first home stand of the season against Gannon on Monday, September 10 at 3 p.m. at Karrer Field before hosting Molloy in its first ECC game next weekend.
