AMHERST, N.Y. - Seniors Eriend Skagestad and Leandro Avila both netted two goals to lead the University of Bridgeport to a 7-1 victory over Daemen College here today in East Coast Conference men's soccer action. The visiting Purple Knights improved to 5-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the ECC, while Daemen dropped to 0-9-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the league.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Skagestad converted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute to give UB a 1-0 lead, and 11 minutes later Avila struck for two goals in the span of two minutes to make it 3-0. The Purple Knights took a 3-0 lead into intermission.
- Skagestad converted another penalty kick just 3:50 into the second half, and the Purple Knights later took a 5-0 lead following a goal by sophomore Jesse Clark with 28:14 to play.
- Daemen netted its lone goal in the 80th minute, as sophomore Mateo Astudillo (Rochester, N.Y.) netted his first career goal. Freshmen Chris Cox (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Eman Wajed (Buffalo, N.Y.) assisted on the goal.
- UB scored twice in the final 6:37 to close out the scoring.
- UB posted a 14-1 edge in shots in the first half and finished with a 29-3 advantage overall.
- Sophomore Eithan Hahn (Lancaster, N.Y.) went the distance in goal for the Wildcats and made a career-high 15 saves. His 15 saves were the most in a game by a Daemen net minded since Ryan Moretta turned away 15 shots in a 4-0 loss to LIU-Post last October.

GAME NOTES
- Daemen returns 11 players from last years team that finished 5-12-0 overall and 3-6-0 in the East Coast Conference.
- The Purple Knights turned in a solid campaign last fall—posting a 10-4-1 overall record and a 5-3-1 mark in the ECC.
- Daemen returns to action Monday (Oct. 7) when it travels to Erie, Pa. for a non-conference game at nationally-ranked Gannon University.
