Allegany County Classic - FULL RESULTS
ALFRED, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's track and field team achieved nine first-place finishes today at the Allegany County Classic in the second outdoor meet of the 2018-19 season. Houghton College and Alfred State University co-hosted the event.
Sullivan Keller (Alden, N.Y.) followed up his two top-four finishes from last weekend's season-opening meet at SUNY Geneseo by finishing first in all four of the events he competed in today. Keller finished first out of nine competitors with a 46.23-meter throw in the hammer, shattering Patrick Dorsey's team record of 35.38 meters from the ECC Championships in 2015. Keller then broke another Daemen record in the shot put, throwing 14.29 meters and finishing first out of nine throwers. He beat Mark Fox's record of 13.90 meters from the ECC Championships in 2013.
Keller then finished first in the discus, throwing 32.90 meters to beat out six other competitors. He followed up with a throw of 41.99 meters to place first in the javelin, beating eight other competitors.
After breaking the Daemen 200 meter run record on Saturday, Ethan Majewski (Pendleton, N.Y.) went on to finish first in that event today. The 200 meters featured nine runners, and Majewski finished with a time of 22.81 seconds.
Rodney Corbin (Williamsville, N.Y.) continued his hot start to the outdoor season finishing first in the 100 meter dash out of 13 runners with a time of 11.61 seconds. Corbin recently finished second out of 58 in the 100 meters on Saturday. Corbin also went on to place second out of 15 competitors in the long jump with a 6.16-meter jump.
Mike Swiniarski (Akron, N.Y.) finished with another top performance of the day in the 3,000 meter run. Swiniarski finished with a time of 9:47.31 out of the five runners. Cale Silvestri (Elma, N.Y.) went on to finish third with a time of 10:39.01.
Josh Bodnar (Fillmore, N.Y.) and Swiniarski both competed in the 1,500 meter race and took the top two spots. Bodnar finished with a time of 4:30.63 while Swiniarski finished with a time of 4:33.21.
Jonny Schmidt (Clarence Center, N.Y.) competed in the 400 meter run for the Wildcats where he finished third out of the eight runners with a time of 53.58 seconds.
In the largest event of the day, the 800 meters, Nate Louk (Jane Lew, W. VA.) finished fifth out of the 22 runners. Louk finished with a time of 2:06.40.
The Wildcats closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay. Louk anchored the relay and helped Daemen finish in 3:43.42, seven seconds better than the nearest competitors. The relay squad also featured Schmidt, senior Drew Greenaway (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and newcomer Seamus Christie (Elma, N.Y.).Â
The Wildcats continue their season this weekend when they travel to Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania for the Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday, April 6 beginning at 9 a.m.
