ROCHESTER YELLOWJACKET INVITATIONAL - FULL RESULTS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) and Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) each posted top-100 finishes to lead the Daemen College women's cross country team at the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational held today at Genesee Valley Park. The 6K race featured 16 competing teams and over 200 total participants. The Wildcats placed 13th as a team.
Cornell University topped the team standings after accumulating just 41 points. The Big Red saw four of their five scorers placed among the top-10 finishers. Genny Corcoran of SUNY Geneseo won the race with a time of 21:50.1.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Nolet placed 60th overall with a time of 24:44.3, just seven seconds shy of her career-best 6K time which she established at last week's Doug Watts Open. Nolet has now been the Wildcats' top finisher in back-to-back races for the first time in her career.
- Warner, who was Daemen's top finisher in six of seven races last season, placed 76th overall with a time of 25:09.5.
- Junior Taya Mucha (Lockport, N.Y.) was next in for the Wildcats, placing 114th with a time of 26:14.6. Mucha shaved more than 30 seconds off the pace she had at last week's meet, and finished just 11 seconds shy of her career-best time.
- Senior Shania LiVecchi (West Seneca, N.Y.) made her season debut and placed 174th with a time of 28:37.8. It marked LiVecchi's first race since the Canisius Alumni Classic last October, and her first sub-30-minute 6K since the 2017 season.
- Junior Mackenzie Tubbs (Elmira, N.Y.) rounded out the Wildcats' scorers today, placing 189th with a time of 29:21.4.
- Sophomore Mia Picciano (Auburn, N.Y.) also competed for Daemen today, placing 207th with a time of 31:27.5, just 12 seconds back of her career-best 6K time.
HEAD COACH PETE GRATIEN POST-RACE COMMENTS
"We were without two of our top runners today with Sarah Golas and Ashley Dusza sitting this one out. Taya, Mackenzie and Mia showed great improvement this week, and Kassy and Savannah were solid again."
