Stasiuk Earns All-Conference Nod 11/3/2021 2:26:00 PM By: CONTACT: Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for Communications/Operations AMHERST, N.Y. - Graduate student Christina Stasiuk (Bowmansville, N.Y.) of the Daemen College women's tennis team has been named to the All-East Coast Conference Second Team. The official announcement of All-ECC teams was made today in a press release from the conference's headquarters on Long Island. It marks the first all-conference accolade for Stasiuk who exercised an option for additional season of eligibility granted to student-athletes by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She joins teammate Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) and Karli Hollins as the only players in program history to garner All-ECC recognition. Rubio earned the nod last season when she was also named the ECC Rookie of the Year. Playing primarily in the No. 2 position of the Wildcats' singles lineup, Stasiuk notched four singles victories this fall. She added five doubles wins as well, four of which came while paired with Rubio in the No. 1 position of Daemen's lineup. She missed the final three matches of the fall season with an injury. Through the course of the fall season, Stasiuk passed Jessica Robins for third place on the program's all-time wins list. In her five-year career Stasiuk has totaled 76 combined singles and doubles victories. Only Hayle Scanlan (93) and Gretchen Ringler (84) have more wins in a Wildcat uniform. Stasiuk is also tied for second in singles wins (43) and ranks third in doubles wins (33) among the program's all-time leaders. Stasiuk is joined on the All-ECC Second Team by Paula Palero and Elita Silins of St. Thomas Aquinas, Gabriela Sciarrotta and Nathalie Ulander of Queens, and Joanna Skrzypczynska of District of Columbia. UDC, the ECC champions for the first time since 2011, placed three players on the All-ECC First Team: Sofia Bellucco, Mariona Franco and Simone Parn. STAC's Samanta Villegas Robles and Queens' Maja Makal round out the All-ECC First Team. Makal was also named the ECC Player of the Year.
