REDHAWK CAPSTONE MEET — FULL RESULTS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team closed out its 2020-21 season by taking part in the Redhawk Capstone Meet held this afternoon on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College.
Daemen sent a limited roster to the event, which featured Division I, II and III schools from across the state. The meet did not include team scoring.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Redshirt junior Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) turned in a solid effort in the 1,500 meters, as she placed seventh out of 20 runners with a personal best time of 4:52.15. Her time today eclipsed her previous personal best time of 4:59.15 that she set earlier this year at the University at Buffalo Twilight Invitational. Nolet becomes the first Daemen runner to post two sub five-minute times in the 1,500 meters in the same season. Today's time also ranks as the third fastest 1,500 time in program history—behind only Brittany Denton's time of 4:50.00 during the 2018 East Coast Conference Outdoor Championships and Mackenzie Donahue's school-record time of 4:48.52 that she set at the 2016 Westminster Invitational. Nolet is one of just four runners in program history to post a time under five minutes in the 1,500 meter run—joining Denton, Donahue and Hannah Rice.
- Nolet's effort today comes two weeks after she was the lone Daemen runner to earn individual medalist honors during the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She placed first out of six entrants in the 5,000 meter run at the conference championships with a personal best time of 18:19.87. Her time was the best 5,000 meter time by a Daemen runner since Donahue posted a 17:15.80 during the 2017 ECC Outdoor Championships.
- Freshman Haley Hinds (Blossvale, N.Y.) also took part in the 1,500 meters and placed 19th with a personal best time of 5:20.07—besting her previous best time of 5:21.26 that she posted at the University at Buffalo Mid-Week Invite. Hinds also ran the 400 meter hurdles for the first time in her career and posted a time of 1:19.29.
- Sophomore Courtney Merrill (Speedway, Ind.) posted a top-10 effort in the 5,000 meter run, as she placed 10th out of 17 runners with a personal best time of 18:56.01—nearly knocking a minute off her previous best time of 19:46.45 she set during the UB Twilight Invitational earlier this year. She becomes the sixth runner in program history to finish the 5,000 meters in under 19 minutes, joining Nolet, Donahue, Amy Trabert, Ashley Cheff and Jordan Weir.
- The 5,000 meter run also featured junior Sarah Golas (Alden, N.Y.) and freshman Camryn Bailey (Geneva, N.Y.). Bailey placed 14th with a personal best time of 19:23.00—12 seconds better than her previous best time of 19:35.65 set set at the UB Twilight Invitational. Golas placed 16th with a time of 19:24.24.
- Freshman Neissa Raymond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took part in both the 200 and 400 meters sprints. She posted a personal-best time of 29.50 in the 200 meters—eclipsing her previous best time of 30:66 that she posted at the University at Buffalo Invitational. She ran the 400 meters for the first time in her collegiate career and posted a time of 1:08.98.
- Junior Hannah Thomas (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) and McKenzie Hall (Hornell, N.Y.) both took part in the 800 meters. Thomas posted a time of 2:32.00, while Hall posted a personal best time of 2:34.70.
- Freshmen Paige Pavelski (East Aurora, N.Y.) and Sarah Adams (Batavia, N.Y.) both took part in multiple events during the field portion of today's event.
- Pavelski turned in a strong effort in the shot put for the second-straight event. She placed ninth out of 16 throwers today with a personal best toss of 10.97 meters. She bested her previous best score of 10.82 meters that she posted while claiming individual honors in the shot put two weeks ago at the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Her showing at the the ECC Championships marked her collegiate debut in the shot put. Pavelski also took part in the discus and placed 13th with a toss of 25.89 meters.
