Daemen begins the final week of the regular-season with an East Coast Conference match at Staten Island Wednesday (10/26). The Wildcats are 3-1-1 over their last five games and are coming off a 4-0 upset win over regionally-ranked Roberts Wesleyan this past Saturday.

PLAYOFF SPOT ON THE LINE
The Wildcats can secure the fourth and final spot in the upcoming ECC Championship tournament with a win Wednesday. Daemen is looking to make its second straight and third overall appearance in the ECC Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT

Daemen kept their postseason hopes alive thanks to a decisive 4-0 victory over host Roberts Wesleyan this past Saturday at Redhawks Field. Three players accounted for the scoring as the Wildcats notched a season-high in goals. Daemen, which entered today in a four-way tie for fourth place in the ECC standings, improved to 3-9-2 overall while evening their conference mark at 3-3-0. The Wildcats are now 3-1-1 over their last five games, outscoring opponents 10-6 in that span. The Redhawks entered today's contest firmly in third place in the conference standings, but dropped their second straight ECC contest. RWU falls to 11-3 overall and 5-2 in ECC play. Their four goals allowed marked a season-high. Daemen got on the board in the 19th minute of the contest as freshman Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) netted her third goal of the season - all of which have come in the last two games. Miranto used her head to score, knocking in the corner kick feed of junior Madita Zeitz(Malsch, Germany). After more than 46 minutes without another scoring play, Daemen sophomore Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) gave the Wildcats a two goal advantage. She netted her second marker of the season in the 65th minute. Moments later, in the 68th minute, Diaz found junior Brooke Amato (Grand Island, N.Y.) who launched a shot into the upper right corner of the net to put Daemen ahead 3-0. Amato added her second goal of the game and her third of the season - a left-footed blast - in the 77th minute, putting an exclamation point on Daemen's offensive outburst. Senior goalkeeper Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio) went the distance between the pipes. She made two saves while recording her third shutout of the season.

RETURNING VETERANS
Daemen returns 20 players from its 2021 team, including six who collected All-ECC honors last year. Experience is abundant, as the team features two graduate students, seven seniors and five juniors. The team's top five scorers from last year all return to the pitch this fall. Senior Tatyjana Scalisi (Williamsville, N.Y.) and sophomore Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) accounted for 13 of the team's 34 goals last year and both earned first team All-ECC honors. Scalisi also earned all-region honors, while Diaz became the first player in program history to be named the ECC Rookie of the Year. All-conference defenders Julia Eichel (Grand Island, N.Y.) and Baylin Tighe (Tonawanda, N.Y.) return after heading up a backline that surrendered just 20 goals in 16 games last year. Senior goalkeeper Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio) is coming off an all-conference junior season in which she averaged five saves a game and posted a 1.27 goals against average. Graduate students Grace Stranahan and Katelyn Sidoti will serve as teams captains for 2022. Amato and Miranto are tied for the team lead in goals (3) and points (6). DeLappi has started 11 games in goal. She ranks third among the ECC leaders in total saves (55) and fourth in both goals against average (1.67) and save percentage (.764).

AMATO AND EICHEL COLLECT CONFERENCE HONORS
Junior forward Brooke Amato (Grand Island, N.Y.) and senior defender Julia Eichel (Grand Island, N.Y.) have been honored by the ECC for their play last week. Amato was selected the ECC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Eichel was named the ECC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement of award winners was made via the league's weekly sport report. It marks the second-straight week that a Daemen women's soccer player has garnered a major weekly award from the conference. Last week freshman Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) was selected ECC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week after scoring her first two collegiate goals in a 3-0 win over D'Youville. Amato collects ECC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the third time in her career after leading Daemen to a 4-0 upset of regionally ranked Roberts Wesleyan in Daemen's lone game last week. She netted two second-half goals to secure the win and keep the Wildcats in the hunt for a bid to the upcoming four-team ECC Tournament. Eichel headed up a defense that limited Roberts Wesleyan to just two shots on goal in the game. RWU, which suffered just its third loss of the season, entered the game ranked third in the league in goals scored (34). Eichel has started all 14 games this year and leads the team in minutes played. She has played all 90 minutes in 10 of the team's 14 games and has headed up a defense that has limited 10 of its 14 opponents to two goals or less.

ROAD WARRIORS
Daemen recently closed out a stretch of seven-straight road games and has played nine of its 14 games on the road this season.

ON THE HORIZON
Daemen closes out the regular season Saturday (10/29) when it hosts Lincoln in an ECC match.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
Staten Island snapped a three-game winless streak following a 4-1 win over Lincoln this past Saturday. The Dolphins have posted league wins over Lincoln and D'Youvlle (2-0) and suffered league losses to Molloy (5-0), St. Thomas Aquinas (2-1), Roberts Wesleyan (2-0) and Mercy (6-0). The Dolphins went 3-14-1 overall (2-6-1 ECC) last year and were picked eighth in the 2022 ECC preseason coaches' poll. Graduate student Jacquelyn D'Amico scored twice in the win over Lincoln and has totaled a team-high three goals and six points. Sophomore Sara Villacres has started 10 games in goal and owns a 2.29 goals against average.. She made 10 saves in a the recent 2-0 loss to Roberts Wesleyan.
