BACK IN ACTION
Daemen begins the final week of the regular-season with an East Coast Conference match at Staten Island Wednesday (10/26). The Wildcats are 2-0-1 over their last three games and are coming off a 1-0 non-league win over Slippery Rock this past Saturday.

POST SEASON PICTURE
Daemen is one of three teams, along with Roberts Wesleyan and Staten Island, battling for the fourth and final spot in the upcoming ECC Championship tournament. The Wildcats are looking to earn their first ever berth in the ECC Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT

Daemen ran its unbeaten streak to three games following a 1-0 non-conference victory over Slippery Rock this past Saturday. Daemen moved to 6-6-3 on the year. Slippery Rock, which is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, dropped to 5-8-2. It marked Daemen's first win over a PSAC school since the 2018 season. Daemen was 0-2-1 against PSAC schools this year and had gone 0-14-1 against the league dating back to September of 2018. The first half saw limited scoring chances at both ends of the field, as the teams combined for just six total shots and just two shots on goal. The game remained scoreless until the 61st minute when the host Wildcats were awarded a penalty kick following a foul inside the SRU box. Senior midfielder Pontus Lundin (Asmundorp, Sweden) lined up to take the kick and calmly sent a low shot into the lower left corner for his first goal if the season. SRU nearly tied the game when it hit the post following a long free kick by senior forward Ramses Minaya in the 67th minute. Graduate student Marcos Lerma Escobar (Zaragoza, Spain) registered two of his five saves in the final 12 minutes to secure the win for Daemen and his third shutout of the year. Daemen outshot SRU 7-5 in the second half and the hosts finished with a 10-8 edge in total shots. SRU posted a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.

SENSATIONAL SENIOR
Senior Derek Bartlo has registered a point in six of the last eight games. He has totaled a team-high seven goals and 18 points. His seven goals and 18 points are the most by a Daemen player since Noah Keem put up nine goals and 22 points during the 2017 season.

ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
Daemen's six goals in a recent 6-1 win over D'Youville tied the program record for most goals in a game during the program's NCAA Division II era (2015-present). Daemen's six wins this year are one shy of the program record for most wins in a season set in 2005, 2006 and 2017.

GETTING DEFENSIVE
Daemen has limited 11 of its 15 opponents to one goal or less.

ON THE HORIZON
Daemen closes out the regular season Saturday (10/29) when it plays host to the University of the District of Columbia in an ECC match.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
Staten Island is unbeaten (1-0-2) in its last three games and is coming off a 1-1 tie with the District of Columbia this past Saturday. The Dolphins have posted league wins over St. Thomas Aquinas (2-0) and D'Youvlle (4-1), suffered league losses to Molloy (2-0) and Roberts Wesleyan (3-0) and tied Mercy (0-0) and UDC. The Dolphins went 3-12-2 overall (1-7-1 ECC) last year and were picked seventh in the 2022 ECC preseason coaches' poll. Junior Daniel Angulo totaled a goal and an assist in the win over D'Youville and leads the team in goals (3), assists (3) and points (9). Freshman Amari Thompson has started 14 games in goal and owns a 1.98 goals against average. He made eight saves in the 1-1 tie with UDC this past weekend.
