BROCKPORT MULTI  — FULL RESULTS

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team placed third out of 14 teams at the Brockport Multi Invitational held today on the campus of SUNY Brockport.

Daemen recorded 103 team points and placed third behind host SUNY Brockport (153) and SUNY Geneseo (128). St. John Fisher College (66) and Rochester Institute of Technology (44) rounded out the top five. Today's meet featured a mixture of NCAA Division I, II and III schools from throughout the state of New York.

The Daemen women entered the event ranked ninth in the second regional merit rating index for the 2021-22 season published earlier this week by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Wildcats collected 57 of their 103 team points during the mile run and 3,000 meters, as all five Daemen runners finished among the top seven finishers in both races. Graduate student Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) placed first out of 32 runners in the mile, while junior Courtney Merrill (Speedway, Ind.) finished second. Freshman Marcy Colca (Getzville, N.Y.) placed first in the 3,000 meters, while Nolet and Merrill placed second and third respectively. A first place showing by sophomore Alyssa Harrington (Tonawanda, N.Y.) in the triple jump highlighted the field portion of the day for the Wildcats.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Nolet led from start to finish in the mile and placed first out of 32 runners with a personal best time of 5:17.19—eclipsing her previous best of time of 5:20.86 that she posted at the Highlander Invitational earlier this year. Her time of 5.17:19 today also ranks as the third fastest mile time in program history, behind only Brittney Denton (5:16.70) and Mackenzie Donahue (5:05.50). Nolet finished less than a second behind Colca in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:41.81.
  • Colca placed first in a race for the second time this season, as she edged out Nolet and placed first out of 28 runners in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:41.10. Colca also took home individual honors in the 5,000 meters earlier this year at the Houghton Indoor Meet. Colca also ran the mile for the first time in her career today and placed fifth with a time of 5:24.80.
  • Merrill posted a personal best time in both the mile and 3,000 meters today.
