The announcement of award winners was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon. It marks the second-straight season that Scime has earned the weekly honor. Last fall she became the first Daemen women's tennis player to be selected ECC Player of the Week since Christina Stasiuk in April of 2021. Scime, a junior, opened the year by going 3-1 in singles play and 3-2 in doubles completion. She went 1-1 in singles and 1-2 in doubles at the Allegheny College Invitational over labor Day weekend and went undefeated at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles during dual match wins over St. John Fisher University and William Smith College this past weekend. She picked up her 25th career singles win during the win over SJFU and teamed up with senior Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) to post an 8-0 win in doubles action. Against William Smith she posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles and again teamed up with Rubio to post an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. A product of Williamsville East High School, Scime is now 21-8 in her last 29 singles matches dating back to the end of her freshman season. Scime is coming off an outstanding sophomore season with the program last year. Playing primarily No. 2 singles throughout the year, she went 15-6 in singles play. Her 15 wins last year rank as the second most in a single season in program history, behind only Christina Stasiuk who posted 18 wins during the 2017-18 season. A second-team All-ECC pick and team MVP last year, Scime owns a career singles record of 26-16 and moved into seventh place in career singles victories among Daemen's all-time leaders. Daemen is off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2020-21 season. The Wildcats return to invitational play this weekend when they take part in the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Region Championships. The event will take place Sept. 15-18 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center - site of the U.S. Open.
