AMHERST, N.Y. – After going undefeated the past week, freshman
Stephanie Baier was tabbed the East Coast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Baier is the first player in program history to be named the ECC Rookie and Player of the Week simultaneously. The Timberline product is currently ranked second on the team for singles wins with eight and tied for the team lead in total doubles wins with seven, having compiled a 6-5 record with junior
Carly Armitage (Rochester, N.Y.) and 1-0 mark with senior
Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.).
Baier compiled a perfect 6-0 week with identical 3-0 records at singles and doubles. At doubles, the Daemen freshman defeated Kutztown and Millersville to begin the week before sweeping Paola Ermina and Yelizaveta Prokopenk of D'Youville with partner
Carly Armitage, 6-0. In singles play, the Boise, Idaho, native started her week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gabby Gentile of Kutztown (Oct. 14) before following that with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sophie Lanius of Millersville the next day.
